Finally got around to finishing the series. Very bleak and absurd reading for a young adult series, but harder to objectively criticise in many respects to the earlier novels.
Felt in a way like having ended on a Time bandit notes with the parent's having touched the 'rock of pure evil', but sometimes one wonders if there isn't this sad reality to life.
Recall another book Briar Rose by Jane Yolen...less visceral more subdued but still an excellent read.
